Brookline rests within the Norfolk County of Massachusetts and sets a border for Newton on the southwest side and all other areas border the city of Boston. According to the 2000 census the cities population rested at 57,107.
This beautiful city was originally settled in the 1600's and was originally a division of Boston identified as the hamlet of Muddy River, Brookline was incorporated as an self-regulating city in 1705. The town originally named from the brooks that shaped the city borders with the previous cities of Allston and Roxbury, in which are both elements of Boston.
The Country Club, and elite sporting association in the community, was the initial private association in the United States created solely for open-air sports. It is mainly known as a golf association; it was one of the initial five associaction that created what is currently the United States Golf Association, and has housed the U.S. Open three times and the Ryder Cup Matches on one occasion. In addition, Brookline is residence to the Hellenic College and Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology.
